Skincare for men minus the fluff!
A 4-minute read that explains it all.
Developing a skincare routine is as crucial for men as it is for women. Often, men forget about the need for a skincare routine, or their routines are built by their significant others. Yes, it’s extremely sweet when wives, girlfriends, or mom’s build routines for the men in their lives, but it is also essential to ensure that the women in your lives understand your skin, so they can make sure you are using products that are right for you.
Start by doing the wash test, cleanse your skin and leave it be for a few hours, then you’ll know if your skin is oily, dry, a combination, or another type! Once you know that, we’ve developed a quick fuss-free template for you, or your significant other to use when creating your routine.
#1 Cleanse: It’s paramount to cleanse your face, if your skin is oily perhaps do it twice, once in the morning and once at night. If it is dry, try omitting this step in the morning and just rinse your face with water then go on to steps 2-4. If your skin is a combination of both perhaps cleanse your t-zone and not the rest of your skin.
How: Gently massage your face, nose, and neck thoroughly for 30-40 seconds with a cleanser, then rinse off.
#2 Target : Identify your skin’s concerns and aim to cure them with a treatment serum suitable for it. For example, if you’re someone who suffers from acne, incorporating an exfoliant with salicylic acid in your routine will help cure acne and dark spots over time.
How: As step 2, apply a treatment serum every other day or once in 3 days for best results. As a rule of thumb, do a patch test first before applying the serum
#3 Moisturize: Your skin needs moisture, whether oily or dry. It helps keep your moisture barrier intact and protects the skin after product application. Moisturizing the skin is a protective layer that keeps concerns away and skin plump. In the AM, use it with an SPF and in the PM, use it as it or with a night cream.
How: Pump some on your palm and spread it evenly across your face and neck on a slightly damp face. Gently massage your face.
#4 Sunscreen: Our skin is an easy target for UV rays. A simple and effective way to protect it is to use sunscreen of at least SPF 30 and reapply when you can. Apt for the AM routine, the sunscreen application is the last step in your skincare routine.
How: Apply sunscreen first onto the length of two fingers and then spread it evenly across the face, the ears, and the neck evenly. Reapply every few hours if you can.
